Um shot the video and I'm in Japan right now.

So, it's it's quite hectic and my team >> That's a lot. >> I'm sorry to my team.

We're all kind of just But that's I guess how it goes and um we have committed to um this project because it was just it is just such a fun project that we did not want to miss it and we're really on it and grateful for everything.

Um bit nervous, but I'm hanging in there.

We really enjoy doing these Shot on iPhone campaigns.

You don't You know, the company doesn't do that many of them.

I always love it because my friends work on these.

And so, I get to see them as a fan and see what kind of um collaboration we're doing and this one feels so dialed into your energy.

Um it's a brilliant performance captured on the iPhone 18.

The whole thing just feels very quick and fast and fluid and fun.

Um it looks like a really fun day. >> Yes, yes.

Um Dave was a big aspect of my like big go-to this project.

Um they were like, "Oh, we have this amount of time to like cram everything in. Will you be willing to?"

And I was like, "Oh my gosh."

And they said they have Dave um on board and he's excited for it and that he was really excited for the music and I think that spoke the loudest to me cuz he called me.

I remember I was um in Europe and he called me and he was like, "I love the song."

And I went, "Well, that's very promising cuz you know what better [snorts] is it when a director says they love they love the the the music that they're going to shoot with cuz imagine I had to like convince him being like, "This is a good song that >> No, but it's true.

It's It's Sometimes it happens.

I mean, you know, sometimes directors they like the opportunity for multiple reasons, either to work with you as an artist or to work with a client or lots of different reasons, but the fact that he went straight to the song, I can imagine the speed at which this was going was like reassuring. >> Yes.

And and you know, he we both were a bit like, "Is this Can we punch this out in such a quick turnaround? Can we?"

But I think ultimately my selling point was that he really trusted in the song.

He's like, "I think the song is really really good."

And so that brought my confidence up and I said, "Dave, if you like the song and I really like I honor that." >> Yeah.

And so I was like, it took me like a few like maybe like 30 something hours to be like, "Okay, I trust."

And and Dave really held my hand through it all.

You know, that's not to say that your music isn't continuing to find its audience.

It's kind of perfect timing in a strange way because Rosie is just one of those albums that keeps finding people and keeps doing this It's on its beautiful journey.

So, let's talk about the song and when this song showed up.

What's the story behind the song? >> I love that question.

I feel like you're like on track with with my songwriting.

It almost feels like I'm like, "Huh, yeah, that's a really good question."

Cuz yeah, it it is not it's away from the Rosie album. It's I can promise that.

There are a few songs that still lay around my phone that kind of have, you know, bled off from the the Rosie album.

A very few of them, but then um this one was one of the first first uh new batches of uh music and exploration um and it was uh um I had been just trying out new sounds um new like energy just in general um and I think I talked about it in an interview already uh I was in a space where which is so interesting cuz my last album is heavy um full of um very sad sad sad girl songs.

We talked about it in in depth. We talked about it. >> Right.

>> I felt like I needed therapy after that interview.

>> [laughter] >> I was like >> I was literally like there was a time where anyone would play the drums I'd be like, "Can we like take the drums away?

Just take it all piano, all guitar."

And like I was really like drawn to that.

But for a while I was like interesting.

I'm I'm really not resonating with my depression lately.

>> [laughter] >> It was like I was just not resonating with the I mean I just needed to find a different layer of sadness.

I was like not It was I was fresh off the last album.

It would have been fake if I was like, "I'm still a sad girl."

Like I'm you know, I've had a after that APT hit off I was like traveling, I was working on my album.

And so the energy in my life was much more like, "What is this new girl that I am creating?

What is this like kind of how do I how am I living my life lately?" >> It scared me.

I'm like, "Do I have to start from scratch?

I didn't know what sounds were really like inspiring me and all I could think of was when someone would play a piano and start like, how about this?

I could like somebody bring out a drum.

Somebody bring out a guitar. Add some tempo. Pick it up. Pick it up.

>> And so I was in the midst of exploring that and it was right after the Met.

Um I had and I hadn't been in with Amy for a while and you know, Amy was kind enough to like fly out while I was there and um I had again like we had to catch up for a bit and uh this song came out.

At first I was a bit like, it's so high energy that I wasn't sure how I felt about it.

And so I was sitting there, I always felt like it was such a good like feeling in the room and it was really fun and cute to write.

Um and then yeah, um and then when this Apple um offer came in, it just kind of all made sense.

And I haven't had that experience before. Like not not yet.

So it was fun to see what projects kind of inspire for music to kind of make sense as well.

It's just when you think you know yourself and what it is that you need to say, it's like, wait, I'm not that same person.

That's the beauty of a project like Rosie.

I guess you're like, that album got me out of that mindset whether I realized it or not and cleared a pathway for me.

It's exciting to start again, isn't it? I think.

Um I think the closer I get to like a sound that I am like newly inspired by, there's no other feeling than that.

Um as much as it is is it is intimidating and a bit uh scary.

Um I have really been enjoying it so far.

I could do this all day, every day, for as long as I can.

But I know I shall put a date to it soon.

I know my fans are getting restless already.

And I'm like >> That's a real constant thread, I think, is the more you go through this and you you come out that first wave of sort of euphoria and speed and if you're lucky success and audience finding and all that stuff.

Is that like inevitably you just it just comes back to you and the songs.

It just comes back to you and the music and everything else just falls away.

Um and it just sounds to me like the way you're describing it that that's your happy place right now is just to be with the songs and let them reveal themselves.

>> Because like it's so interesting like it could be sooner or later, I think, because that song this song New Trick was written very early like it's like a few months ago.

And so it it's just I need to all lay it all out there and then see what speaks to me when I'm gathering the songs to create to really like form the album.

It's like you never know what's going to come out of when and where.

Yeah, and like I remember when I was writing New Trick with Amy, it was like I look back on the conversations we had then that ended up being the song and the lyrics and I kind of go that's something I'd be saying like today, like this week.

That's something that's those are words that I need actually that I would need this week.

But I wrote that then and I'm like what was I going through again then that in order for me to write that?

It's almost like I was writing it for the girl today, for example. >> Yep.

>> It's really really like weird time traveling thing and it came >> Cuz the portal's open.

That's a portal, for sure. It's an actual portal. I truly believe that. >> I'm getting chills. >> It's true.

But we did, and it came from like very core discussions of like life.

But like moving forward today, I'm like that's probably something I would have written like this week.

And so I mean, I'm excited.

And again, I think I said it um to my friends, but like putting this out there feels like putting out the energy that I am needing. Um and so I'm excited.

I think Rosie's album was like more very truthful in a sense where and this is still truthful, but um it was more acknowledging things that really existed, whereas this feels like it's a manifestation also um to a lot of things.

So I I feel like that's like something new and fun, and it just fits really really well with the Apple campaign.

And um I think it's just classic matchmade in heaven.
