you're bringing it inside is what it looks like totally that's that's exactly what i'm doing i'm bringing it inside and i'm making it more of a world that other people can participate in and actually this this this is great for me to let you know because this album is called cool tape volume three yeah man i love it so you know i did you know cool take volume one cool tape and then fire so this is cool tape volume three and it's kind of like
bringing uh all my fans who have been with me from the beginning since before icon livingston before sire and kind of updating them on to everything that's been happening but with that being said this is also a prequel before sire you know so it's kind of taking place when i'm like 15 and going all the way up until 17 and like how did sire get trapped in the sunset sergeant pepper's lonely hearts club band it's uh listen i mean if you want
to talk about uh absolute bonafide instant vintage classics the kind of thing that continues to inspire generation after generation let me ask you an honest question as we're playing that right now the kick of this uh at home with playlist that we're working on that you've lovingly provided for us um what do the beatles mean to your to your generation what do they mean to your friends is the stock as high as it always has
been tell us from inside that room it is it's high i like i i don't know i'm blown away by the beatles like every day like i get up and i'm just like wow the beatles like actually like that happen like i i just i i don't know like i'm at a loss for words with everything that they've ever done in every album that they've ever made and sergeant pepper is my favorite album of all time who introduced you to it how did you discover it
um my friend odessa really was the one who i mean obviously i discovered it when i was a young boy just by being alive and being in the world and hearing music you're obviously going to hear sergeant pepper's losing the scout i was like i heard that all the time all of the hits when i was younger but odessa was the person who really um came into my life and was like no um we're gonna listen to this like at all times like when we're in the car
listen to this and and when we're at the sunset we're gonna listen to this and and when we're doing anything at all and we're together we're gonna listen to this and their other albums and other music like it and she really um she really put me up her and her sisters uh gideon and rocky they really put me on the wave of you know this new soul searching that i'm trying to do to search for more authenticity within my own
music and authenticity within my voice to be able to say something that can change someone's life and then for generations to go by and for it to still continue to change people's lives and make them want to be better people and spread love and really push out messages of positivity into the world where it's just pure utter love and peace and happiness and that's the only things that are going on that as far as a musical message for me
connected and resonated with me so much and i just really really got attached to that it made me search deeper within myself just for more authenticity yeah it's my favorite words i applied all the time you know because to me it's the great separator i mean people say like why do you play the music you play or what how do you know when something lit and it's just like it's if it's authentic you know you know it's coming from a
soap from from that space where it has to be shared and and i wonder what that meant what that means to you now as you are getting into a place where you're diving deeper and you're recognizing that voice and you you're finding you know you're finding more rewarding ways to put it into your music than ever before but you know you've been an artist and you've been someone who's been um you know a creative in process you know
you didn't sit away in the back in the in the back of of your house and wait to you were quote unquote ready which no one ever is uh you know you know you put yourself out front because you wanted to go out there and you wanted to be in the process of it you wanted to experience it so listening back to some of those records now even if you do do you recognize the young the young man do you recognize the person who wasn't at that authentic
space yet and was just trying things and imitating which is great by the way and you have to do it totally 100 and so much of music in general i feel today is people just being like oh you know what's what's happening you know what's everybody doing where you going what's the motion you know what i'm saying that's the irony but there's more imitation than ever before now it's literally like they put it in front of your face it's
just ham-fisted imitation it's like kidding me it's crazy and and the it's evolved into this type of place where you know people are doing it and people are okay with it and like you said for artists it's an amazing way to like find your voice or what your voice isn't you know what i mean and um and you know for me it's just been a whole journey where i've you know i started making music because i was looking up to other people that
were making music so it started from that type of place you know what i mean so for me you know it's really been a journey of finding my own way and finding my own voice and still now still in this album i'm still on that journey of fighting well yeah but you're an influence now though jayden and we've talked about this because you're an influence in my house and so you know it's like you know to get to a point where you've been
influenced and now you can influence others that's where authenticity plays such a valuable role and that journey or that work you did really starts to pay off but there must have been moments when you would walk in the room and get a chance to work with a pharrell or a rocky or whatever and realize my god i was kind of trying to be you two years ago and now i have to be myself in front of you because i can't imitate you in front of you
100 you know like that has always been a thing with me and especially with the people that you mentioned uh pharrell rocky tyler getting around them and being like oh man like i have to like catch my own vibe you know what i mean i'm like one of those things where it's like i would hang out with tyler all the time and be like oh man like yeah i'm cool like i'm a skateboard with you guys like i'm i'm like i i'ma catch this vibe with
you guys but then i would realize like oh snap like i can't tray flip like they're out here like doing the craziest stuff like i can't even i can't keep up and then like that's when i realized where i'm like yo i love skateboarding so much like i always will and it's because of tyler but i regardless i'll always love it but i'm more of like a if i wanted to like really be myself like i would go surfing you know what i'm saying is that that's
my thing i feel when people discover bowie it's like it just becomes this lifelong obsession of twists and turns and creative discoveries yeah bowie i just i love him and once again back to odessa um you know she really
put me on to a lot of bowie and then really allowed no no she's really special man like she's i don't know man like she's she's on the album um but she's really special she can play the guitar she can play the guitar like she's why i
wanted to like learn how to like really play you know she knows how to play she can sing she's amazing with harmony she's amazing with um music but she's like she's like an actress full-time like she's she's she has a show coming on everything in in a few months um but um she's she's uh she's special for sure well there's a lot of anxiety man i mean it's it's it's it's funny you know anxiety shows up in different ways and
if you lived in london or in new york it's all very tactile it's like the anxiety is right in front of your face it's in everybody that walks past you it's a very tactile experience anxiety is very tucked away behind closed doors in los angeles it's an internal and insular experience and you know a lot of people see it in their in their home environment or in their in their in their personal environment away from the streets we're about to
play this record by the anxiety which i love that project too by the way willow and tyler came through in a big way um rip and misfits um but but you must sort of recognize the concept of of that now that you're older to see it and how it relates to this city it's an anxious city it really is it really is and like it's funny i was just like before this i was on the phone by friend and they were just like i'm so
anxious all the time and i'm worried about this and i'm worried about that and i'm like oh like da da da da in the third and all these questions just about life but then also just about normal things too and it's like it didn't make me realize the anxiety is going through the roof for everybody and um it's crazy and i never really knew what anxiety was until recently either where i'm just like man i'm just worried about like i
don't even know like i'm just stressed like about everything like and it's it's really crazy it's really crazy and it doesn't happen to me too much but when it does it it happens like it's very strong do you talk to your sister about it i mean i'm assuming and man correct me if i'm wrong but tyler who i know is a deep and sensitive soul and your sister have called this project the anxiety for a reason and i'm sure they're tapping into the global
you know psychology and the global consciousness of it but you know do you discuss it with family and with your friends when you go through that because it's like the pathway to relief 100 i definitely do discuss it with my sister with my friends and talk to people about it like yo we're stressed about this we're stressed about that sometimes it's work related and then sometimes you can really see when it's
that true genuine anxiety where it's just like anything everything um and i feel like talking about it with people is the best way to get over it and there's a lot of um i feel like we're all being aware of the different like uh mental health issues in the world right now because we're all being isolated with ourselves so we're very much so being confronted with our thoughts and some people okay that and some people aren't listen we love this
song cabin fever this is a sign of things to come thank you it's so strong it's so beautiful um what are you gonna do for this summer i mean obviously there's not a lot we can do it's kind of a strange summer it's like it's a summer with an asterisk next to it a whole bunch of conditions at the bottom of the page totally are there beaches you can go surfing are there safe spaces you can get out to i mean what are your feelings about the next
few months you know since everything happened i haven't found a beach that i can go surfing at um but i'm going to try to um you know just just get in the water you know we have like this thing with misfits where it's like yo we hope you run in the forest you know stare in the stars swim in the ocean and bask in the sunset you know miss a trippy summer and you know that has really gotten postponed because of
everything that's been happening in the world that we couldn't even come out with what that was um but we still feel that way in our hearts and um i i just hope that every day that i can just get as much sun as possible and and try to find an ocean to get into even though i haven't been able to um but um you know i want to spend as much time in the water as i possibly can this summer um as social distance as possible but
