seeing your smiling face back with a brand new album in short order my friend you came back and rinsed us quickly is great news if the last record that you released at this point was about you coming to terms with your identity khalid kaladin who you truly are when
did the idea for god did come from and you decided to take it into a higher a higher plane than your own personal space you know when i came up with the title it was not it resonated with me that to the point where i had to let it out my soul is
spread into the world and what happened was the fans it resonated with the fans and i'm like oh my god they feeling what i'm feeling and that's what i said it's gonna be the name of my album so because i had another name for
my album and can you tell us what it was i mean now this is this might be the next album it might be the best ah the ideas are always there you just gotta know when to give them to us right and it's like you know when i said they didn't believe in us god did like
you know i felt like i was speaking for all of us you're saying and because some of these things that came in it's a gift that's what it is it's a gift it's a gift from god it's a gift from god and the gods it's true from the gods on the
mic and the gods and the arts and the gods who walk this earth and god who put breath into them in the first place into all of us but the point about the title that really resonated with me was that you bought your faith and and the conversations you have in
private into an environment in an open way for the first time you've always been very open about your family about yourself about who you are and what and the path you want you and your family to walk about the relationships and how
important relationships are to your success but you've never truly put god on on the poster like this and said you know i ultimately have faith in something bigger than myself and so how does this conversation occur not to be personal but how do you apply this
faith in your day-to-day life and what kind of credit do you give faith for your success and for the life you live on this planet i give all glory to god i'm saying i everything you see me doing is from god's blessings i'm saying and um of course my family
you know i'm saying but and my kids but you know god um you know i say i said this many times you know you know god gave us light so we can do anything we want to do um as long as we want to do it and as long as we do it with love and we do and
we're supposed to be out here doing god's work so this time is like the the the new chapter of dj khaled the new chapter of we the best um you know because i said this uh uh the other day i said man you know we win so much this look easy or this
we went so much they think this is normal you talk to the greats you know this is not normal like come on this is 13 albums zane like you're saying like you know my career has been doing this you're right it gets to a point where dj
khaled showing up exactly you're almost there keep going keep going any artists out there any producer out there any dj anybody in in our world or any career knows when you continue to do this it's the biggest blessing ever because
some people do this look and then do that and some people do this though and some people do this you know i'm taking a look at this um at this track listing that everyone is now experiencing and there's things that jump off the page for me everything is
present and accounted for and of the quality we've come to expect and beyond but there's certain things that even you know when you look at your own track listing you're like what the have i just created look at this song with eminem and kanye west on it what
calendar we talking about here produced by dr dre this is a gift this is a gift from kanye dre and eminem it's a gift not just to me to the world yeah saying this is a gift produced by dr dre in icu kanye eminem me and kanye worked on a
few records and we didn't finish them they're incredible we just didn't finish them kanye he got so much going on you know he's doing a lot so i'm like yo i called kanye one day and i said i got an idea he came by my house like a year and a half ago eight
in the morning he just showed up to my house i never knew he's coming he tells the chef give me some eggs with ketchup and he had a drink we go to my studio i play music he plays new music he both inspire each other he plays me an incredible album
that he did with one of my idols dr dre he played it from top to bottom for me i couldn't believe what i was hearing we had a great get together at the crib he leaves that's a year and a half ago i told you he was making records for
this album and yeah he couldn't finish him because you're so busy so i said i got an idea i remember you playing me this dr dre eminem kanye record and y'all was talking about god i was speaking that gospel i said man that would be beautiful if we could
put that on god did and jay hits back and says i love the idea you know you don't love no idea [Laughter] he said i'm down but we got to get obviously i said i got to call dre to get his blessings and of course m's blessings
so i called dr dre i this is i called dr dre after i hung up yeah i called dr dre i said i said there's a story before that but let me finish this story i called dr trey and i said dre bless up brother yo boom i was like y'all would love to put this song on my album
that you produce with ammonia make a long story short he's like yo i'm down we just gotta make sure we get em's blessings and i'm like of course you know everybody this everybody gotta want this and this is this has got to be
it's gotta be everybody gotta bless this so he hits me back and says trey said we got you and we love you let me tell you a story so we get the blessings a few months ago i text dre before i came up with you know calling yeah about this a few months ago i texted dre
you see this was still his number because you know i had it i hadn't talked to him in a while so i said bless up brother this is still your number i think he hits me back like a week or two weeks later but i end up catching the covey so i look at my phone i'm like
he hit me back but i was sick with the covey god bless god it's great you know you know i was going through the clover so i didn't want to hit him back right away because i had i didn't have my energy they had my you know i had my my
spirit wasn't that my life i'm gonna talk to trade my idol i gotta i gotta i got a calendar yeah i gotta feel dj khaled he gotta hear dj khaled so i'm like i was working on another record that i wanted to present to him that i produced i wanted to present to
him to get on and i never played it for him that's what i'm saying this guy did instead i was blessed to get a gift from dr dre kanye western eminem produced by dr trey man the minute i thought my album was done do you see how my album starts
shakes god out the gate then it goes in the future little baby like i don't know hey listen i don't know what like zayn like i'm a i'm a true pure fan but that last minute magic gift you see what they're talking about on there right saying they're talking about
god this album is called god did then i get a gift there's so many gifts on this album there's a record on there called juice world did hold on he made a whole record talking about dj khaled we the best and another one they they could have blessed me with
this last album nah they wanted me to hear it but god did when i heard it he made a song about dj khaled we the best and another one he made a whole song about it saying i can't make this if i want to you know that's called deeper than rap
like like this i can't make this up if i want to my relationship with six god is that's my brother he starts off the album then it goes into hove and ross and wayne and holds rhyming for five minutes straight talking about everything that hope did
not just whole did that he believed in khaled but he also talked about what whole did so that means the minute i prayed for him i knew he had a lot to say i knew it i knew it he went five minutes straight when the music speak to you it just speaks to you
can i get a gift a gift from dr dre and kanye and eminem something that's really jumped out to me on this album bro is that um you know i see quavo and take off on a record everyone's talking about the future of migos offset has this
great 54321 record which i love so the music is going to be great everyone's going to go ahead and continue to make great music but it is strange at this early stage as we try to get our head around what things look like the optics of it to see
quavo and take off on a record without offset and not being amigos records you know what i mean those are all my brothers all three of them are my brothers and you know um you know from from their big brother we want to see them together no matter what it's
our job to make sure that they continue to be brothers but obviously they got that thing so i'm i don't know but i can tell you this that take off with cueva on this album called party all the time shout out to eddie murphy that's that's that's it
obviously had to get clearance for for that song eddie murphy his breakout song do you know if it landed on eddie's in eddie's email oh yeah yeah for sure you know this whole team uh shout out to the whole eddie murphy team shout out to eddie murphy for
clearing that record um shout out to everybody that cleared on the album from the bee gees you know i love the fact that you've there's a song on here which which falls kind of in the middle i always look at things still in terms of like album
structures you know like vinyl cassettes things i grew up in because i think that it creates an emotional resonance to the track listing and i look at the dawn tile of a travis scott song let's pray it's song number ten and i think you
know because we have to we always have you know not enough time but by that to say that you haven't been generous with your time i just wish we had a lot more time um but i think about that song and i think about the fact you brought into cactus
jack and and and travis aligned with his with his boy and and just what the time he's been going through and the spirituality of the song just tell us the story about that one before we say goodbye man that record is incredible one of my favorites all of them my
favorites but i love that one because i love don tyler but i'm a fan of don toliver i love his name don toliver besides his music him being cause this is i'm the dondado he's don tyler but i'm like we gotta work you're saying so
i'm like and i just like his swag i like his energy i like the way he posts on instagram i like i like don tyler i just i like him and i love his music and um we made you know i documented 90 of the album in my studio like filmed us recording and
making these records um so you're gonna see some magical moments and um you see our connection with me and don and of course my brother travis scott it was only right to put travis on this record um for a lot of reasons because it just felt like
you had to have travis scott on it every time i played it for everybody like like you getting travis right like as everybody was saying that and i'm like yeah i'm working on it and um he's saying on there his flow and then he ends this verse off like you know
what he said i'll be back i'll be he he he ended his verse with it straight up but he had him with a straight up with like a and it lasted for like two minutes it came going straight up and it went it's like melody but then he was like yo i'll see you soon like uh you
know i'm going back to utopia tonight yeah he talking that he talking that and dog talk yo this time it's called god did man it's just a big blessing brother like it's like right now you captured me in a moment where you know the damage came
out and i'm like in my backyard and i'm just embracing all this love and like you know me as a fan you know saying just the way the walk the album starts you know like from one two three four it's the way it flows in and i i want everybody to take the
shuffle button off your album's always concept records in many respects this one a very deep and spiritual one for you and for fans of you and the music and and i think the last person that i want to get you just to share a couple
of seconds about is someone who i think changed your life ultimately and everybody on this album did but i think that that moment that you and jay-z really actually formalized your friendship in a business way and you became partners in the dj keller
business which is how i look at this now just his influence feels like it's strong it's a it's a personal and professional influence and an inspiration that he provides for you um you know what ultimately is one of the best learnings you've taken from being able
to to move with jay as jay moves in a different and more sort of progressive and mature space he's maturing better than almost any artist on the planet i think yeah you know jay-z is also one of my idols too and what i love about him
you know i've always been a fan not just from his music just from his moves you're saying from business to being a father and to be on top and to watch everybody you know everybody through the career people come at each other in some way when you're on top and just
to watch him as a boss and a dawn never let distortion get in a way of the blessings and the greatness and look how far he's become and he's just getting started not only is he a billy he's uh one of the gods you know um a beautiful father a great
friend uh built many brands um help other great people become billies and help me in so many ways so and then for him to bless my album the way he blessed my album it's like not only does he love me it feels so great for him to be so
in love with the music yeah in this day and time that's what i'm saying like he ain't got to do none of this but if the music speaks to him he gonna do it you know i'm saying and that was such a blessing and that meant so much
to me because not only does he trust me he know you're special yeah and that's why but to answer your question he's taught me so much he's my brother he's my friend and i want to take my time to thank jay-z on this this this show i love you brother we forever
