it's definitely Monday I'm excited I'm so excited I feel so yeah this brings to my way you've been through it man I mean what you've gone through in a year most people you know kid could put down to sort of four or five years you know several albums working it out you know you should have gone from this you
know all this disruption to this complete sort of 360-degree like this this 180 turn that around turns into something positive and the album has come out and the results speak for themselves man amazing yeah now I'm I'm so freakin happy I'm so happy that it's finally out I'm so happy saying you know
the reaction from a bunch of my fans and it just feels good to be able to just kind of step back and just like you know close that chapter and just enjoy and and you know enjoy it camellia when the record came out what were you doing where were you I was in New York I was gonna do Good Morning America the next day I was I had to get
up at 4:00 a.m. so I tried to go to sleep yeah exactly you know my heart was beating so fast I remember just trying to go to sleep and my heart was like were you refreshing to see if it had gone live well you were sort of afraid I would just I would just try to go to sleep and then I would just get my phone and I
would be like did it come out yet but I was trying to go to sleep and this lady came in and she scared the bejesus replace the towel and I was like about to go to sleep and I thought that I was having a nightmare cuz she was like and I was so scared and I was like this is it this is it this is my last day and I
was like and I didn't even get to see my album come out you were a hot mess really strong to the point of insanity no no I'm not kidding that's what I was literally like oh my god this is it this is it cuz I saw I was like I heard the furniture moving around and I was like who's in the room um but anyway yeah I think it's just cuz
my Abba was gonna come out of course man like the amount of emotions that are flowing through and we've got so much to get through man I want to talk to you about this record because I haven't had a chance to and I feel like you know we've been really sort of privileged and really enjoyed what little role that
we've had to kind of play with you up to this point so I want to get into the album oh yeah and then of course we put out the hashtag Camilla beats one with your help and the questions that have come in I'm gonna tell you straight up I've done this before the standard of questions we've gone from your fans are
amazing nice really incredible like top level they're not just like hey will you come here which is a valid question people getting diving into the real kind of intricacies of the record the themes of the record and and you know they know you really well yeah they do I mean some of my fans have known me for you know
years like since I started since I was 15 you know and the thing about you Camilla is that you come out with Havana and you're like alright that's a global smash that's a career-changing record really big and that kind of mid-tempo pop Smasher and it's obviously deliberate or you wouldn't put it out but the success of
Havana play a role into and why you chose that record to go not really I mean I always just want to do I never want to do what people expect me to do and I just feel like it's uninteresting I just came out with Havana part 2 and part 3 and my album was just a bunch of different versions of Havana like I just
don't think that that's interesting and I also don't think that that's realistic to Who I am you know what I mean it's that would be very like one-dimensional well who you are is is is completely essential and integral to this record like this is an album I mean you change the title you caught it Camilla you're
late enough I'm not gonna present myself as myself then what am i doing it doesn't have to be this concept record right now I'm gonna read luffa list of people and you're hardcore fans will know what these people have in common SIA ed Sheeran Charli XCX Stargate Who am I missing I mean the list is ridiculous of people
they contributed to this record and didn't make it onto the record like all of these people queue up people queue up to work with these people you have these moments and they didn't make it on the record which I just thought was a real insight into who you are and what you want to say on this album yeah
well I think that what happened was basically a lot of you know a lot of people which you know it makes sense that I you know I I came into this and you know all those people have a real you know they have this want and this need to to make like the next you know big that would help you make kids yeah
exactly and I think I was just not in the place in my life where I wanted to hear oh I'm going into the studio today to write my next single my next smash whatever I just didn't I just didn't want to think like that I wanted to just be in a place where I just was making music for fun and making music purely to
express myself yeah you know what I mean and I think that's why Frank and I really really clicked was because Frank Dux for those people yeah he just wanted to come in and and make music you know what I mean and make music that was true and honest to me no matter what was going on in the radio at the time yeah
no matter what was going no matter what the trends were the thing is right you got this list of people they came out everyone books sessions because they recognized like this is a good story she's a talented artist this is the kind of people we look to work with at this point in their career so you had this list of amazing
collaborators all lined up in the first half of the year and I guess also with the greatest respect to all of these people they're so successful that to some degree it becomes about them if you put this album out then the press release or at least the article is gonna say communica by oh announcers track
listing of forthcoming um Camila featuring I mean even though I know that that's definitely an outcome that happens that didn't really play into why I didn't end up using the songs I think it was just because I really wanted this album to sound like what I just sound like me you know what I mean and and I think that Frank really pulled out like
the essence yeah of Who I am and I feel like it's just not interested even if a song is a hit it's just not interesting if it doesn't sound like me if it doesn't sound like the artist you know what I mean you live and die by that at the end of the day otherwise the hit become something you can't shake and you
have to get around it right as opposed to we're in on it and carry it be proud of it right over and over again yeah and I know that my fans know when something sounds like me and when something is me and more importantly I know when you know the song is about something that I went through and yeah so I just wanted
to be in a in a place where everything just sounded like me and I could go into the studio and talk to Frank about you know love and you know whatever the hell I felt like that day you know what I mean with no with no real I didn't really feel any pressure you know what I mean I totally forgot that so cuz they
don't keep getting put back yeah that's a sign it's a sign they're just like now I'm moving at my own pace and you know when you get it you'll know and you'll understand it's Who I am and what I want to say she loves control yeah that's about I basically wrote it about this time in my life where I just loved
having control of you know control creatively control of my life my decisions control of my time and I wrote it you know knowing that it could be about whatever you want it to be but for me that's kind of where it stems from was just like me you know loving having control of my life and I love the idea
of just you know I have a lot of like young girl fans I love the idea of them singing like yeah you know what I mean because I think that it's just like a bossy way to you know live life and everybody wants to have control that's what 2017 has been about yeah for sure right yeah for me taking some control
absolutely it's also a banger thank you dude these are bangers on this record by the way Thanks he surprised oh my gosh what was it the last time that I came to this studio was to start at very big at the start I was like one-sixth of the way we never met and it was like all right so I gotta ask you these questions about of
our friendship right on trend ever siree when's our friend ever when was that it was like May it was about May yeah and I gotta ask you these tough questions were so supposedly tough questions about a band that I didn't really know much about I never really liked the fifth harmony type and you know I respected the pop songs but it
wasn't it wasn't part of my kind of everyday you know and then you come out and was like you know you need to get to know this lady and you need to play her music she's along she's on one and it was a really great day I was like alright this is for real now if we find you here with this new album barely days old you've
already broken a record over you know a hundred country's number one and on that note we wanted to give you something just to say congratulations at Apple music because people don't do that every day Camila they don't come out and break records like that every day so we think you know you deserve every every bit of
it thank you crazy it's a crazy fact I'm saying I really didn't I feel like I'm still just having processed that it's come out I'm like I'm overwhelmed but I know you know in a good way are you kind of looking forward to getting into life post album touring yeah because you're not out of that right now
well for me I feel like every time I you know from me my music and my life are in this like parallel line you know that's part of I mean that is why I you know change the title cuz I was like I'm not really in that place anymore and I just can't you know we have to live in the same you know at the same time and I
feel like whenever I'm done with an album like this is kind of the end of a chapter and for me the next part is about you know collecting memories and experiences for the next thing actually that's nice what's funny for me is that most people finish their debut album in some kind of very meaningful sort of
like a sort of deeper like and so it ends you know this journey this 36 minute journey comes to an end with something that will tie it all together with a ribbon that borders on the melancholic or even the dramatic it's a very standard thing to do from debut ever you've come out with a bang up like is intuitive finishes there and
it's just like no I'm coming out on a very happy very puppy yeah very kind of type type if I may use their works the song is you know type of type environment and I wonder whether that alludes to kind of like alright I'm done with all that now maybe I'm in this kind of mood yeah because you know there's
definitely the album takes a turn where it becomes really you know introspective professional yeah and like heavy and yeah confessional and so I don't know that the tracklist was something I spent forever working on I just tried every single possibility and I just you know when I played it for my friends in the
car and a bunch of different orders I just didn't like ending the album with like I'm bummed out I'm going through this thing on C's questions a Sox even wants noise with man I was for sure bummed out but yeah so it's like I ended it you know it ends kind of when this new chapter cuz once you're done with
all the stuff that you're bummed out about you have all this room to feel the more fun stuff last year we had scissor we knew that was going to be a big hit because the voice is fantastic there's a sort of personality there and Camila Cabello has the same thing going for her she she had the huge hit with Havana we
played a new single I just think she's gonna have an amazing year because she's just so gorgeous and so much fun and she's got a great voice and she has great attitude and I think 2018 is gonna be amazing year for her well I want to get three tips for you for this year so would she be one of those tips yeah she is have you met her before
never never spoken to her never known but I just love it what would you say if you cuz I know that you get in touch with ice yeah this is what you say congratulations you make me happy I your records make me smile just love that attitude is that there's a vibrancy in it makes me feel good it makes me want to get up and dance
Sir Elton John yo I'm literally tearing up and I've heard that before it's insane I feel like it just I just had this moment I'm just realization that that's that's so crazy that's just insane there's the thing about you Camila that I'm gonna point out and this is this is true of many people I've met
my life in music is that there are great artists out there who make great music and you want them to continue to do so and then there are great artists who make great music who are great people and you want them to win and you must be aware of this and having your mom travel with you and be here today and that is
the second time I've met your mom and the second time I met you really face to face so I know she's with you all the time yeah that's obviously when you were growing up in a huge part of your upbringing was you can be as talented as you want but at the end of the day unless you make an impression on people
that is positive then you're setting yourself up to fail yeah I mean for sure and I feel like it's not even thinking about that with that intention because I feel like you can't just be nice because you know you don't want to fail you want people to like you I feel like she's just always taught me that more
important than anything than being talented than being you know all these qualities that are great being brave being smart being talented you know being you know yeah all of that stuff nothing is as important as being kind like I think being kind is the most important thing you can be and she's always you know told me that's the most
important thing in people period no matter who they are you know I think I think going forward you know a lot of artists and a lot of people in life can can you know to remember that that it's it's really about how we relate to each other in the impression we leave on each other that's gonna make things better I
just feel like it's the human part of life is what makes you happy you know what I mean just like conversations with people and you know even walking in the street and having a stranger smile at you like that's you know that's what really makes you happy we've got a lot of your fans who are probably clawing at
the devices right now like enough natter and you've made it before you spoken to it before we want to pass the questions and we're gonna get into it into it we're gonna get into it but first we're gonna play one of the best songs on the record called consequences and I want to know what your thoughts
are about this song before we play it what consequences it's interesting it almost didn't make the album just like a lot of them not not a lot of them but there was definitely a couple like this one even into it that I was just like unsure I don't know I mean obviously there's a bunch of different how many songs did you have did
from Oh a lot so yeah there was hundred no no I would say like 30 that's alright yeah yeah what have you been doing all year 30 songs in 12 months nothing well it's hard it's hard out here well but also I had a unique process with this album where you know you met me while I was like in the studio I already had
songs coming out and then I was touring with with I opened for Bruno Mars and then I went back into the studio and that's where four or five more of the songs that are on the album like the second half was conceived after I was on tour like after I was already doing promo yeah so it was really good though
because I actually realized that I think I'm more the kind of person that uh I I don't want to be in the studio for like four months making an album I would rather just be like living and then going back and imagine if you put the record on the first half of the year you to be there's been a misery tour yeah
consistently living talking about how sad you are and yeah exactly oh sucked no it's good because it gives you time to step back and it gives you time to you know play songs for people and see you know how my friends react on my family reacted and you know consequences for me yeah it's actually ended up becoming like probably my top
two never be the same in this one right now yeah like one of my favorite songs yeah you remember that one that's one I mean you'll make a lot of music over the course your life but that's a very strong strong song you know if you're gonna if you're gonna record a vocal over a piano like that and you know you
in the words and what you're saying has to be essential to us as people yeah I also loved that it was it's the most strips back like it's just you know it's just a piano and my voice and I remember one of the most produced though actually despite it being stripped back all of the reverb and all of the texture sure
that's true but I I was having like a internal battle with myself I was like should I you know put a bunch of harmonies in it and then I was like no yeah it has to be like it was like one take live yeah the rigged message I think that I think sometimes when people write these ballads that they get you
know they get it wrong when they put a reverb on their voice I want to hear someone in my ear right for sure amazing I love the lyric as well dumb dark and she who puts dumb in a song huh Camila Cabello with us right here on beats one let's get into it hashtag Camila beats one thank you to everybody first of all who sent

jst lkm who inspired you when writing the song in the dark is it self experience because the lyrics are no joke yeah well I wrote in the dark after a Grammy party last year and are you good at parties no that was the last one I went to because I don't know I always tried to go and you know meet people and
make like genuine connections and I don't know sometimes a lot of the times I just kind of went home and I was like I totally could have just you know hung out with a friend I'm gonna get a lot of genuine connections on a night like that yeah for sure and so basically the song was kind of like me kind of making an
observation like on the outside looking in about somebody that I met and that I was kind of having this like you know this a flirtationship with and it was like a you know it was like a famous guy and I was just kind of noticing how a lot of the times it's this facade with people that are celebrities and they
kind of can't turn it off like it's always a performance or its you know what I mean it's this Mirage and I was just kind of like I don't really want to fall in love with a name or just because you're famous or sure who you are I just want to you know I want to get to know the real person and I feel like the
human stuff like the twisted stuff that you know the little isms that are do sing Christine yeah for sure that's what makes people interesting and those things get blunted when you when you're constantly out there when you're yeah when you're when you're constantly on and I was just kind of like you know
perfection is boring and you know what I mean so yeah that's basically what that with song is about as me just kind of wanting to know like the real person not the famous person well someone else called Camila koala won't know about that as well because I think it's a song that's really resonated with people with such a
strong sentiment and you know I'm not gonna go and you enter you into your private life that's really none of my business but at the end of the day I think it's really great you put down a record yeah because it because all we see is people meeting people and events like that and then it becomes part of
the public sector and it becomes what anyone wants to talk about and I just don't think that that's a particularly fair place to get a jump off from if you're trying to look for a relationship right I feel like that's it's a common theme throughout my album too is how I felt in LA while making it
what's a weirdly private town it really is it's hard to make it's hard to make yeah absolutely so yeah that was kind of like one side of it real friends is another side of it coming from just like the friendship people side and in the dark was just about trying to find like real connections with people that are famous
this from Kath what was the first song and the last song that you wrote for the album the first song we did was Havana and it was it was the first week that Frank and I worked together and we had this like writing soiree and you know our friends came through and worked with a lot of different people that week and
Havana was the last song that we did and I remember it was like not a standout for us while we were doing it and the next day I like listened to all of the different demos that we did that week and we were like oh man it's got some potential because we got oMG in Havana came so we made armed gia will record
and we played Havana's straight after because they came out simultaneously looked at each other you remember in the room we were like we were in - oMG like we like it like it's cool you weren't quite for a great vibe we looked each other with Havana played and everyone was just like well that's like on the motorway like gone out out of the
stadium on the motorway cause the traffic like it's out of here yeah nobody thought that though likewise even yeah that's why it wasn't even you know it wasn't the one that was like prioritize you have a number one record is rhyming her in Atlanta along with the rest that so that was the that was the first one the
last one was real friends and that was it was crazy because we finished that and in like a week after it was out with the pre-order yeah so that one was like really fast too so yeah that's the first one last one this one from Lilly does your mom have a favorite song on kamila I think my mom's favorite is something's
got a gift she always she pushes for that song all the time yeah that's always been her favorite and do you think if your mom wasn't pushing for that song given the supposed nature of that song and what you're willing to leave behind in order to move forward and no more questions please I don't have any more questions I just want to
go forward do you think that song would have made the cut if your mom wasn't such an advocate for it it definitely plays it definitely has played a part because my mom and my dad both love that song and sometimes I'm like because I you know I I love it too but I think when you know when your family or
somebody you know a really close friend it's like life six seven years time they just like I remember that song we told you on the record yeah no but this one was my favorite for a while too because I think that this could have been the last song on the hurting the healing the loving hashtag kamila beats one right
now communica Baio is with us we're going through questions as quick as we can this one from it's cute Kibeho when you were changing the album title from the hurting they're healing the loving to Camila were there any other possible titles no this one from Meghan was it hard choosing an album cover with
their variations oh my god it was so hard and for me I literally I think that when I'm really excited or when I'm nervous I go into this just like crisis mode yeah and it was definitely a crisis mode so what is Christ what is crisis mode what is community it was like in in production there was another cover that
was going to about to be in production for like the physical album copies and I was like sanic button it's like Code Red DEFCON 3 like it's it's go time ya know and my poor manager I'm surprised he you know hasn't had like a seizure throughout this process because I you know it's it's there's been so many
moments like that where I'm like you know oh this one oh this one is not on the album okay now it is submit the tracklist like it's nuts like Bruce Springsteen said sometimes an artist just has to be indulged but yeah there was a - there was two possible covers there was this one and then there was actually the other one there was another
one with it was like my face and then it had clouds covering it and so I would just listen to the album with you know the different covers and I was like yeah this one is way way stronger Honorable Mention know not to set her aside but to be be who came up with so many great questions that we've actually chosen a
couple of her questions because she crushed it if you could say something to Camilla from five years ago what would you say five years ago 15 I would say relax I feel like as you get older you just realized that it's just not nothing is that serious like it's just not that big a deal and I've just realized you
know the more that I travel the more that I experience things more that I watch movies the more that I watch Sex in the City that's what sex in the city the more that I you know the more I see the more I realized that just everything is it's just about just enjoying yeah you know what I mean and the less I care about
what other people think and what stuff looks like to other people and you know what other people's opinions are because life is really just about you how you experience it and you know how you enjoy it and I just remember being fifteen while I was you know when we were singing on national TV that I would just
like be gagging like so nervous and everything you know I was so self-conscious and it's like I just don't really care anymore you know what I mean I'm just kind of I'm just kind of for now myself until the next record yeah until the next massive challenge and the thing you have to do is just gonna cuz you got to keep challenging
yourself right yeah there's a moment of relax now that's a good place to be yeah but I don't I feel like in actually what makes you better I always challenge my challenge myself on the next album but I feel like you can't do that properly if you're thinking about what other people think because then you
can't branch out and do new stuff that could possibly fail it's true there's another one from BB what are your pre performances habits and rituals well I listen to a song and I have these phases so my last phase was kissed by Prince and my last one was Purple Reign by Prince and my last one was probably a
Drake song yeah so yeah I have like phases of songs that get me into the vibe but it also depends on the song that I'm performing so I think before Havana I think it was kiss and there was there's also Chen Chen by Buena Vista Social Club it gets me into the vibes and for never be the same it's a like Purple Rain and you know
more epic kind of emo and throat warm-ups warm-ups all that kind of stuff getting yeah all the weird sounds before I perform I always think of like a memory or a thing that nobody else knows that I don't tell anybody that makes me feel that makes the current moment feel not as important do that in comparison I
do that if I if you do of course if I have to sit down and talk to someone I'm really scared I interview I think of someone that I've interviewed before that doesn't make this interview seem any less important but makes me realize that I got through that and then did this one is just another conversation
for me it's like more of a personal moment like you know I'll think of me you know watching Harry Potter with my sister right or you know if I you know kissed a guy that I really liked you know what I mean the moments we talked about yeah yeah this one from Alex if you could play only one of the songs on
your album it's borderline creepy but I love the question at your wedding which would it be consequences rough never be the same that's pretty good be the same yeah but maybe like a slowed down like piano version of it like an acoustic version of it like we would sing it anyone in the world ed Sheeran the same yeah ooh like a yeah that's
achievable I mean I think honestly on the trajectory or on right now and who's to say when you will or won't get married but ultimately I think given that you know ed Sheeran you've co-written with engineer and your star is on the rise you'll be in a situation where if he does ask to be paid then you
probably have a little in the bank to be able to compensate the experience it's Sharon singing your wedding song is actually an achievable thing Wow that would that would be amazing that would be incredible this one from Artie so do you get emotional in the studio when you're writing and recording and if so what song was the most
emotional for you to lay down probably something's got to give I definitely cried while you know doing the vocals to that yeah I think that's that's the only one that I really like cried too yeah yeah tough day yeah well it just felt like this catharsis of emotions and I was still this was kind
of this was earlier on so I was not as over it which is why you know it ends up being like you know soul-crushing just keep it moving keep it moving if you get a tattoo of any part of one of your songs which one would it be and why what lyric okay I'm probably gonna go with I'll never be the same like it yeah good

I used to write in the bathroom all the time right good reverb yeah good reverb I think I might go back to that soon good reverb minutes always like you know give us a give us a little like the little our favorite ad-lib in Havana right now no that's like the bathroom that's what you're looking for wow that

god you know who I what I really wanted to do I wanted to do like a country version I've never be the same with Sam hunt or something with posts would be cool post Malone your fan opposed yeah he's great yeah his melodies are insane Oh such a great time I love the country idea though yeah because I feel like never be
the same stripped-down could be a country song with this ed Sheeran record it's well it just I loved 10% of it Sharon Oh anyway didn't you change what compare no I mean he he's he's amazing he actually introduced me to Amy Amy wedge yeah who I did consequences with right right so he likes set that up so
that song would not have happened if it weren't for ed was the Rick what I mean you've got all these songs now with all these amazing people attached to them some of which have already been out but there's also a lot that having talked about it on out what I mean what's the feel I think it just didn't you know I
just didn't end up sonically fitting with it with everything else it's sound it's and it was it's an incredible song but it just didn't fit with everything else that sounded like a one-off oh it's funny cuz the next question actually relates to their which is from mone which is do you have your own little

songs that I wrote in my bathroom over and I'll tell you the name of the instrumental that I wrote it to it was everything that's changed by Ed and Taylor oh yeah and it's called like friends do and basically I just loved the lyrics because the lyrics were like so you said it's basically about this guy that I I liked but I just kept
saying no let's just be friends let's just be friends but we didn't act like friends right and so the chorus was like so you said I'll sit straight on the couch like friends do and I'll stop kissing your mouth like friends do cuz I can't look at you quite like friends do very good yeah very strong turn around it's almost
up to me that's almost like and I mean this was a greater suspect someone else is very good at that continually evolving 360 turnaround lyric that has different context is met Healy from the 19th oh my god I want to work with them so bad so good somebody else lyric somebody else that he's like you know
