[Music] before we even get into the first song on the record how did you even find yourself in the kind of mood to want to make an album that effectively is an instant Vintage Modern Day Soul Anderson pack record um I wasn't even thinking about like that I was just recording music man I was just going through just a creative spurt and I recorded this
along the same time as Oxnard yeah yeah and we were just recording mad material I mean it was like 3 years since Malibu so uh I just had so much material that I was sitting on and going back and forth from touring and um when we were developing Oxnard I started seeing Ventura kind of take place too so simultaneously I started kind of
divvying up the songs and being like okay this is going to go here this going go here got it saying and how did you differentiate them personally looking back on it now for yourself what what I mean just a couple of key words about Oxnard versus Ventura were you able to Define them differently because they are different sounding records yeah when I
was going into it I felt like one was made to be gritty one was made to be pretty you know what I'm saying there it is I was I teed it up I was hoping you give us something like that yeah man you know if you on your way to Vegas one is you could play on your way to Vegas and when you can play on your way back after you do all those horrible things and you
can reflect on what you've done you move away you end up in Venice let me take a step back through Malibu let me get back to oxide let me wrap it all up V are we done are we done with we're done with the beaches thank God done with the beach sick of this I was yes I'm going to name it something else now I get to do some cool names you get to break out
